Thing 3: Who are ya!!

This is Thing 3: Explore other blogs and get to know other participants

You can see the blogs of the other participants of this extra credit module. By heading to:
https://23thingsjan2016.wordpress.com/

There will be a ruuning theme; in that they will all be from the Unversity of Surrey and doing doctoral study. Either an EngD or PhD.

For me I am a first year Eng.D (Engineering Doctorate) student doing Materials Engineering, specialising in the incorporation of graphene into carbon fibre reinforced composites. Currently in the literature review stage so have no idea or experience in actually doing such.

The RDP is the Research Development Programme? I think :s

Initial registry date was 5th Feb, however it has been said that these Things can be taken in your own time and the last week and a bit had been rather busy coupled with wi-fi issues at my sponsor site. I'm also hoping the blog people will be gracious enough for me to enrol slightly past due :)

Thing 1: My First Post !!

Welcome to the 23 Things for Research blog.

This is Thing 1: Setting up a blog

In world with shifting communications where it seems you are shouting into a void hoping for someone to hear / acknowledge you. Being able to shout effectively using social media can really help in getting a message across.

My interactions with social media have been to avoid them like the plague. For example, avoiding Facebook as much as possible as I could not care less about "the next big trend" or "the top 10 ways to procrastinate".

Saying that, I do use LinkedIn, with the idea at the time hoping prospective employers would see and give me a job! (Almost worked, had a few Skype interviews).

Through this blog I do hope I will know how to communicate effectively on social media and getting the correct exposure to the correct people.
